The Hero:
Welcome to the official website
for The Hero, bar and restaurant at Burnham Overy
Staithe, North Norfolk, run by Ali and Robin Senter.
We hope you enjoy reading through the pages and learning
all about us, our food, our wine, our surroundings and our passion
in giving our customers’ a memorable visit.
Our aim at The Hero is to create and serve as
many homemade dishes as possible, using local produce from as
many local suppliers as we can, therefore we strongly believe
in supporting local businesses.
All our dishes are prepared to order, including all desserts,
so this is not a fast-food outlet, this is a place where you can
relax and unwind, have fun with your friends and family and enjoy
the informality that we provide. Needless to say, our service
is efficient but friendly, quick, but not brash, fun, but still
professional.
The menu is based on classic and contemporary cuisine and Ali
includes a wide variety of choice, but not too much to daunt you,
so there is something to suit all taste-buds. The Hero has a small
intimate restaurant, seating 30, if you have a large party to
cater for, the team are happy to help, but prior booking is essential.
In the summer, you can enjoy sitting outside whilst watching the
world go by. We have a large extensive eating area with wooden
benches, so you can park yourself along with your dogs (which
unfortunately are not allowed inside due to space limitations)
your kids and your wellies, whilst being waited on hand and foot.
In the winter you can sit by the log-burner and warm your toes
and listen to our cool and funky background music, whilst supping
your ale or sipping your wine.
The Hero has been extensively refurbished and decorated since
we took it over in 2005. We have given it a neutral, calm and
relaxing atmosphere, it’s non-fussy, but warm and welcoming.
We truly hope you’ll come and visit us outside of cyberspace
and sample our good food, our extensive wine list and our welcoming
atmosphere. If you do, we’d love you to send a review on
our “review” link, so you can pass on your comments
all about “My Hero Experience”.
Enjoy and we look forward to seeing you soon.
What customers have said:
“Like the place it self, the cuisine is unpretentious, with
the emphasis being on quality home produced, hearty fare delivered
by a young, eager and efficient staff at mid range prices to satisfy
local as well as incoming pockets.” Steve Snelling,
EDP Sunday Magazine
“They were welcoming and rather like a real country restaurant
in deepest France, they had just decided to do it and do it well.”
Richard Forbes Robertson, North Norfolk Living Magazine
